WhatsApp wants to solve a problem that has made many iPhone and Android phone users cringe, and this is because after years and years of complaints, they are trying to find a solution to the spam that makes some people stop looking at the messaging app, unfortunately.
WhatsApp finally thought it would be a good idea to limit the number of messages someone can send to strangers without receiving a reply, the restriction applying to both individual and company accounts, so in theory spam should be reduced.
WhatsApp plans to set a monthly limit on the number of messages someone can send to strangers without receiving a reply, with the company now testing different limits in different countries where it is available to see which average would cause the fewest complaints from people.
Before the limit is reached, WhatsApp will send an alert message on iPhone and Android so that people know they are about to reach it and to stop, but if they don't, they will no longer be able to send messages to strangers using the messaging platform.
WhatsApp says that regular users should never reach this limit, but those who do will have to wait for the monthly limit to reset before they can send messages to unknown phone numbers again, and if they also receive replies to messages, then they will have an even harder time reaching the restriction.
